A native of Taiwan, Mr. Lee arrived in America at age twelve and since then he had settled and currently resides in Hicksville, New York. Despite the late music training, Mr. Lee had taught himself to play the flute in his final year of high school. With disciplined organization and preparation, he went on to became the principal player for the New York All State Band and second flute in the All Eastern Educator’s conference with less than six months of formal training.
Before leaving high school, Mr. Lee had successfully won an audition that earned his appointment as a flutist in the United States Marine Band. Mr. Lee was assigned to 1st Marine Division Band located in Camp Pendleton. As a Marine Musician, duty and performances took him from Parris Island to California, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Minnesota, Wyoming and many other places. Mr. Lee also performed for military ceremonies, Los Angeles Philharmonic master classes, the Rose Bowl Parade, public school demonstrations, and performances where foreign dignitaries and the President of the United States often took part.
Upon an honorable discharge in 2001, he resumed his musical training at SUNY College at Potsdam, where he earned his undergraduate degree under the guidance of Professor Kenneth B. Andrews. While at Potsdam, Mr. Lee participated in master class performances with guest artist Joanna G’froerer, principal flutist of the National Arts Centre Orchestra of Canada.
